A Representative of Our University Attends a British Council's Meeting

A representative of our university attended a meeting of the British Council with the representatives of the higher education sectors in the region.

on 22nd February 2023, the Director of International Academic Relations & Media (Assist Prof Dr. Ahmed Mohammed) participated in a meeting with the British Council in Erbil. And, both sides emphasized on establishing a scientific as well as academic relation collaboration between the two. As the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Amanj Seed participated in the meeting.

It is worth mentioning that since 2014 (the time of ISIS), the British Council reduced its activities and collaboration in the region. But at the time being, they are increasing their activities as well as relations including their academic relations with the higher education sectors.

About the British Council:

Purpose:

Although it receives a government grant in aid, the British Council is operationally independent from the UK government.

All their work contributes to their purpose and aims:

‘[to] advance, for the public benefit, any purpose which is exclusively charitable and which shall

(a) promote cultural relationships between the people of the United Kingdom and other countries;

(b) develop a wider knowledge of the English language; and

(c) encourage educational co-operation between the United Kingdom and other countries, support the advancement of United Kingdom education and education standards overseas, and otherwise promote education

Indian Council Announces a Scholarship Program

Consulate General of Inia:

The Consulate is headed by Consul General and has following Wings (1) Consular, (2) Political (3) Administration (4) Commercial (5) Education and Culture. The functions of the Consulate, inter alia, include development of relations between India and Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Cultural exchanges, promotion of economic, trade and commercial relations, issue of Passports, Visas, Consular services and OCI cards. The Consulate functions within the purview of Business allocated to the Ministry of External Affairs under the Government of India’s Allocation of Business Rules and Transaction of Business Rules and under the supervision of the Embassy of India, Baghdad.

General Administrative powers are derived from IFS (PLCA) Rules, as amended from time to time. Financial powers of the Officers of the Consulate have been detailed in the Delegated Financial Powers of the Government of India’s Representative Abroad. Powers regarding Consular and Passport, Visa, etc. are derived from the Consular, Passport and Visa Manuals. The officials of the Post function under the guidance and supervision of the Ministry of External Affairs under the Govt. of India through the Embassy of India, Baghdad.

The members of the public are encouraged to express their opinions and offer ideas during various interactions between the Consulate and the public and the same are duly taken into consideration while framing policy in the Consulate
